That should not serve to discourage you from trying it out though.
Some of the most important things that you have to learn when you are doing gardening for the first time are the kind of mistakes that are commonly made by people who are new to it. There are many reasons why they make these mistakes, it could be because of their lack of knowledge or they could have been misled by some myths. The important thing is for you to avoid following these wrong moves.
· Planting your garden with invasive plants which can quickly take over it, killing the other species there. You might be tempted to buy those plants because they are usually advertised as fast growers. There is no doubt that they can grow fast, too fast in fact that they can choke the growth of others.
· Using products without knowing what they do and what their effects are. Using pesticides and herbicides without really having the need to do so can be a wasteful practice. On top of that it can also harm some of your plants.
· Planting at the wrong places. Before you plant anything you should find out how big that plant can grow and if the place would be able to handle it. It would need full space in order to develop well and be healthy.
· Using too much fertilizer. Burying your plants under a load of fertilizer will not benefit it and it in fact is sure to cause harm to the plant. Too much of fertilizer material can burn off the plants that you have.
· Planting the wrong plants for your zone. Plants need different conditions in order to grow well. Some would grow well in cold conditions while others cannot, so you ought to know what the right plants for your area are.
· Giving too much water to plants. This could be just as bad as giving too little water. You should know the exact water requirement of the plants that you have in your garden so you don't kill them by overwatering.
· Getting too many plants. This could be a temptation for new gardeners and you should avoid it. You should only get enough plants that you can really take care of.
· Killing all insects and bugs in your garden. If you are new to gardening, it might be hard to distinguish between the beneficial and the harmful insects. You should take time to learn it however because it can do a lot of good for your garden.
· Not taking out the weeds in your garden. Weeding might be an unpleasant task but there is no getting around it. You have to do weeding in order to clear your garden and let your plants have a clear run.
